I go inside the classroom anticipating that I'll learn something from you and our subject. I believe what my parents told me that education is important and is the only treasure they could leave when they are gone and that no one can steal it away from me.
I love it when you call my name for it proves that I am not a stranger in your class. I'd be thankful if you understand my frailties, ideas, habits, and ways of thinking. My mind is often full of distractions. I appreciate your efforts in writing clearly on the board the important points on the lessons. In case you don't know, I do notice if you are not feeling well or if you are sleepy and yet, you do your best to be enthusiastic. I know it too, when you are sad and I wonder how could I be of help to you. At times, I feel sleepy too and it’s not because of boredom. It must be the vitamins I’m taking or the sleepless nights I spent on things I believe to be necessary.
Please be kind and friendly. Even if how difficult your subject is, I’ll do my best to learn. Often, I am afraid to ask questions specially if you’re not in the mood. So, please smile often. It reduces the pressure, at least. You were once a student before you became our teacher. If there is one person who understands us well, it’s you. I can't afford to miss your class. So if I come in late, reprimand me in private. Do not scold me in front of my classmates. I would go nuts if my crush is in there, watching. If I get low scores, please don’t get angry. It doesn’t mean that you’re lousy. You can blame the genetics if you want but please bear with me. You don’t need to assure me of a passing grade. I just need an encouragement and a reason to do my best again.
I love to be acknowledged. It’s a million-worth of accomplishment for me once my efforts are appreciated. In an instant, you and your subject will be one of my favorites. With the degree that you have, I trust you and I never doubt your capacity. Everything you say, for me, is truth. I respect you and your words and I’d appreciate it more if you fulfill your promise, stick to our classroom rules and always come to class on time. I feel proud if you recognize me amidst the crowd. I feel disgusted when you pretend not to hear me greet you along the corridors. It’s humiliating on my part. Sometimes, I need your full attention. I don’t know why but I love the feeling of being noticed. Let me say thank you for sometimes giving in but don’t allow me to abuse you. Just help me build my confidence.
Years from now, I may forget the all the formulas I’ve memorized and derived from my pockets and the different topics in our subject.. but for sure, I will bring with me the memories of how you treated us and the way you taught inside the classroom.

DeAR sTuDEnTs..
I don't only want to teach you the lessons I ought to teach but I intend to make you realize that learning is a pleasant experience. I take the responsibility as your parent inside the classroom and I am hoping that you'll give me the due respect I deserve. I do my best to memorize your names despite the hundreds of faces I see inside the different classrooms everyday and I'd appreciate it if you don't transfer seats for it helps me a bit. I want you to feel at home in my class.
Your punctuality and participation in our class is important to me. I don't want you to miss anything. Your interest in the subject inspires me to teach better and do my best to share everything I know. I hate it when you are not listening while I am talking. It's an insult for me, not just as your teacher but as a person as well. I'm expecting you to ask questions politely and not merely to test my capacity. I stand in front of the whole class as a teacher, not as a performer. I intend to demonstrate and give examples, not to do any exhibitions. I notice it when the class gets boring. We have the syllabus to follow. We, teachers, seemed to have no right to be lazy but we get tired too, like any human does.
I don't intend to be a 'terror' teacher but sometimes, it's the only way to discipline the majority. It is never easy to deal all at once with fifty different personalities inside the classroom. Often times, it's an unjust battle between one and fifty. There are times you'd hardly understand me why I get so upset if the class gets noisy. It is only when you become a teacher too, then you'll know.
Yes, we do teaching as a living but giving our time and our hearts into teaching is a personal choice. I hope you, students, see that. We can never be perfect educators in as much that you can't be perfect students too. Teaching is a vocation and learning is a passion. Listen then, not only with your ears, but with your heart.
Learning, just like growing up, is a matter of choice. Even if we'd jump from the roof top but if students refuse to learn, it's useless. We are just one of those who help in shaping your future but everything lies in your hands. Please don’t blame us for your failing grades. We watch you closely during examinations not to give you agony but to be fair with the whole class. We give you assignments and projects not to drown you but to maintain your momentum. We give you seat works and board works not to punish you but to give you the opportunity to show off and boost yourselves. We let you stand and answer questions not to embarrass you but to give you a chance to be heard and make an impression to others.
Whether you've learned or not, we are still fully paid. As we do our best to teach you, do your part as students and we'll be more happier for you. We want to motivate you as you hopefully inspire us.. for without you, we are never called TEACHERS..

iSkuL bUkoL...
i love ALL my schools..
Mt. Matutum Christian School (MMCS), San Lorenzo Ruiz Academy of Polomolok (SLRAP), Notre Dame of Dadiangas University (NDDU), University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC), Holy Trinity College of General Santos City (HTC-GSC), Iligan Institute of Technology (IIT).. **hats off** to all my mentors!
imagine how many hours in my whole life have i spent in schools? but still, i end up as a T.E.A.C.H.E.R.
it's not a wonder if one day, i'll be putting up my own school..hahaha, who knows?
twelve years in the academe is too short for me to learn exactly HOW to teach. what to teach? it's all written in books and in the internet.
teaching is never easy. teachers can never be perfect, because students (defined as 'experts in the art of studying') aren't perfect either. there's too much pressure in the academe, although schools are not supposed to be pressure cookers (from the film, 3 Idiots) but a TRAINING GROUND. agree? *winks*
Isn't it that learning must be a beautiful experience? must be fun? must be a fruitful discovery?
why do people study? why is a degree so important?
* to compete (Life is not a race, but a dream to be fulfilled)
* to earn a living (probably, in a way..)
it should be for SELF-EFFICACY!
if teachers are experts in making the learners understand then students must also be willing to learn. learning is voluntary and a choice! if we claim to be professionals yet our level of understanding is shallow, our mentality is poor, our minds are narrow, our perceptions are limited, our attitudes are so unprofessional, and our life (still) has no direction.. then, let's look back and count the number of hours we spent just to LEARN!
wanna waste it?
